Thomas D. Cartwright vs. Cynthia Ann Cartwight DIVORCE
They were married on Jan 1 1840 in Williamson Co. She
committed adultry. She was Cynthia Ann Modlin. He said
they were together 10 days. He happened at a grocery
store in her neighborhood where she lived. He was with his
half brother Harvey Cartwright and Thomas S. Wyatt. Men
of Nortorious habits. They were in a drunken spree, it
being Christmas time and prevailed upon and suceeded in
getting him drunk. She agreed to marry Thomas and when he
was sober he found her to be a common prostitute. She has
lived with Isaac Tignor for 2 years. ( The divorce was
granted in 1846.) (Miscellaneous Records of Williamson

Berry Modlin married Mary Pomroy Sept 24,1836 Williamson Co.
Isaac Teague married Milley Pomroy Aug 2, 1831 "
(Isaac probably one with whom Cynthia living in 1840)
Ordered Timothy Shaw and William Byers be appointed Commissioners
to let to lowest bidder John Cartwright an object of charity for
his support for one year (2 Jan 1816 Williamson Co.)

3Feb1846. (1850 Census does not list a James Cartwright
and Eliza, however, living with Richard Sutton age 55, and
Juda age 45 is a Sarah J. Cartright age 4. in Williamson
County, Wi 813-594.) (NOTE: 1860 Census Williamson County
Richard Sutton, age 57 (sic) and Judy age 50 with Sarah
age 14, this is the same family as other children names
and ages check against 1850 Census.)

Be it remembered that this cause came on to be
finally heard before the Honorable Thomas Many Judge on
the 20Nov1846 upon the Bill of Complaint, the affedavid
thereunto answered, the previous order in this cause and
the proof. And it apperaed unto the satisfaction of the
court from the proof in the cause that the complainant on
the 1st day of January 1840 intermarried with defendant
Cynthia Ann in the county of Williamson in the State of
Tennessee and that complainant and defendant have from
thence until the present time continued to reside in the
County of Wiliamson and that the defendant has been guilty
of the offence of Adultery. The court doeth therein order
adjudge and decree that the bonds of matrimony existing
between the complaintent and defendent be dissolved and
that compaliant be freed from the obligation thereof. It
is further ordered and adjudged and decreed by the court
that the complaiant pay the costs of this cause for which
