Tax List Franklin County, TN (Franklin County Historical Register) [NOTE: The early part of this list is in alphabetical order, however, toward the end where Josiah is listed he appears to be in at least the proximity of George Caperton and may even be next door. Following up on George, from the book The Capertons by Bernard M. Caperton: pg 110, Thomas Fowler married Aletha Conn, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Conn of Prince George County, Maryland. She was born in Washington City. Nannie Gibson Dobbs stated that Aletha Conn was a sister of Eleanor Conn who married George, son of Adam Caperton. I believe this is probably true. Thomas and Aletha moved to Kentucky and then to Tennessee, and settled three miles west of Woodbury near the east fork of Stone's River in Rutherford County. Pg 53. Col. George Caperton (1777- 4/4/1836) m. 1st Eleanor Conn. Their marriage is recorded in Madison Co. Ky. She is the sister of Aletha Conn. They were daughters of Joseph and Elizabeth Conn of Prince George County, Maryland. George married second Malvina Ake nee Mundy but no children. George left Kentucky soon after 1800 with his brother, John and settled near Cowan, Franklin Co., TN. He later moved to Jackson Co., Ala and settled on the Tennessee River near Stevenson. He is buried about four miles south of Bolivar Ala. Eight children. Elizabeth (6/17/1799-6/20/1873), John Elson (1801-; Aletha Avis (-1841); Hugh Prior 9/30/1804-5/22/1865); Permintina (- ); George Winfield (11/9/1810-7/8/1868) Mahala; Adam Harrison (1813-6/27/1885).
